New to Microsoft Excel or need a quick refresher? Excel Basics for Beginners: A Quick Start Tutorial will help you become familiar with the Excel workspace and learn the basic skills needed to begin using a workbook with confidence.

Using a blank Excel workbook, this short tutorial explains essential Excel terminology and demonstrates how to navigate a worksheet, enter and edit information, perform simple calculations, correct mistakes, and save your work.

By the end of the tutorial, you will know how to:

  • Open and navigate a blank Excel workbook
  • Identify a workbook, worksheet, row, column, cell, and cell reference
  • Select and move between cells
  • Enter, edit, and delete information
  • Create simple calculations
  • Use cell references to add values entered in different cells
